The Government of Canada has launched consultations to seek views on initiatives planned under the Pest Management Regulatory Agency’s (PMRA) Transformation Agenda, which includes a targeted review of the Pest Control Products Act (PCPA). These initiatives aim to:
• further strengthen environmental and human health protection through modernized business processes;
• improve transparency and access to information and data related to pesticide reviews and decisions; and
• increase the use of real-world data and independent advice.
Pesticide users in the agricultural sector are a key stakeholder community that will be impacted by this work, which may result in changes to the way pesticides are reviewed and registered in Canada, as well as the information that is made available to the public about regulatory decisions.
