UFA is inviting members and customers to celebrate at events across Alberta this coming Farmer’s Day. Friday, June 9, marks the day to celebrate what farmers do each and every day. This year, UFA is excited to invite its members and customers to their local UFA Farm & Ranch Supply store and UFA Petroleum agency to celebrate and recognize the important role farmers serve in our communities
“Honouring Alberta’s agriculture industry and the work our members and customers do is important,” said Scott Bolton, UFA President and CEO. “So much so, that for many years, the second Friday in June was a provincial holiday. Kids had the day off school and families could spend quality time together following the busy seeding and calving seasons. UFA has a rich history of celebrating Farmer’s Day; after all, our co-operative would not exist without farmers. We were created by farmers for farmers, and we take time on this special day simply to say, thank you.”
In addition to events across the province, UFA is holding an online contest this Farmer’s Day. Two lucky UFA members will win $5,000 UFA gift cards. Plus, members can earn bonus entries with every online purchase. The contest runs from June 8 – 26.
And if that wasn’t enough, there will also be one-day-only draws at all UFA locations! Each Farm & Ranch Supply store will receive a Pit Boss Table Top Gas Grill and Spice Pack. Customers can enter Friday, June 9. The draw will take place on June 16 at each store, as per the official contest rules.
For Petroleum agencies, there is a draw for a Fuel Tank Package with entries valid only on Farmer’s Day. This prize consists of an AGI Westeel Road-Vault Flat Top (Dual Wall) Fuel Tank and a Fill-Rite 12V DC 20GPM Heavy-Duty Fuel Transfer Pump with Automatic Nozzle. The draw will take place on June 16, as per the official contest rules.
UFA won’t be the only ones celebrating. Many of Alberta’s elected officials, from federal, provincial, and municipal governments, will be recognizing Farmer’s Day; through statements of support; lighting up urban landmarks like the Calgary Tower, Lethbridge City Hall, and Edmonton’s High-Level Bridge in orange and green; and offering proclamations and letters of recognition. From farm to fork, the impact of the agri-food industry is felt in rural and urban communities alike, and UFA is thankful for the support from its urban partners.
