Position Summary:

The Corporate FA reports to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, prepares compiles and communicates schedules, margin analysis and expense reports for subsidiaries as well as the preparation of several other corporate related supporting activities. The Analyst communicates effectively and provides support to members of the finance department during the monthly reporting process, while seeking improvement opportunities of daily tasks.

Key Accountabilities:

• Prepare on periodic basis; accruals, adjustments, recurring JE’s, subsidiary JE’s, and amendments to subsidiary master data.
• Compile information for subsidiaries - monthly financial reporting/ statements, reporting packages, margin analysis reports and operating statements.
• Prepare monthly work in progress and elimination accounting entries.
• Analyze subsidiary GL variances from billing system to SAP, other analysis as required.
• Prepare PST & GST tax returns for subsidiary.
• Conduct detailed monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for specified UFA GL accounts; accrued liabilities, A/P misc. clearing, corporate accounting accrual, lease liabilities and prepaid.
• Review inter-company clearing accounts, co-ordination with other departments is required.
• Prepare year end working papers for external audit and income tax as directed.
• Process leases monthly (addition, disposal, accrual), review lease expenses using leasing company software, seeking opportunities to leverage software reporting.
• Assemble and distribute daily sales report AG and Petro to UFA executive.
• Assist with UFA’s monthly GL rec and JE folders; follow up completion of paper and soft copies.

Required Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or Accounting and enrolled in a recognized accounting program (CPA,CA, CGA, CMA) or with equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years general accounting experience in medium to large organizations with progressively more challenging roles and responsibilities. High volume processing and understanding yearend tax reporting required. Building an understanding of reviewing and improving work procedures.
• Proven reconciliation experience with large balance sheet accounts. Understanding and experience with both straight General Ledger reconciliations as well as reconciliation of General Ledger accounts to a Sub ledger.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with strong analytical skills.
• Knowledge and experience with ERP systems and ERP utilities, preferable SAP. Adept with Microsoft products particularly Access and Excel; enterprise retail systems and other productivity tools related to data extraction, manipulation and reporting. Progressive working knowledge of MS-Office and related PC skills.
• Able to adapt to a changing environment and work under tight deadlines.
