Bill C-234 is at its final stage of the legislation process in the Senate and only one step away from becoming law. The Agriculture Carbon Alliance (ACA) is calling on supporters to reiterate the importance and timeliness of Bill C-234 to farmers and our food security by urging Senators to stop the delay and pass it into law immediately. The last amendment to the Bill was successfully defeated.
An amendment removing provisions for heating and cooling buildings and greenhouses was recently adopted by the Senate Agriculture and Forestry Committee (AGFO), unfairly excluding tens of thousands of farmers, ranchers, and growers from vital financial relief. The ACA is also concerned that further delays arising from the proposed amendment to the bill will indefinitely postpone getting essential capital back into the hands of Canada's producers.
